LETTERS FROM OUR PARENTS...
March 7, 2001
Dear Mrs. Carpio,
Greetings and salutations from Woodland, California. This letter is an
update on your ex-student Apple B. Loveless, and to thank you and your staff
for the excellent education you gave her. Apple is in the 7th grade and is an
honor student. She is attending Douglas Junior High (Grade 7-9), which has
1200 students.
It is a lovely school without any fences. The grading system in America is a little different in the
Philippines. A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1. Apple had a 3.8 average on her first
report card, then a perfect 4.0 on her next two report cards. A copy of which
is enclosed. apple is one of the top Pro-Algebra students in the 7th
grade, and has named as such in the school paper (enclosed). She has also been
selected as one of the 50 future leaders from Douglas.
P.E. is one hour each day. So far Apple has learned and played Field Hockey,
Flag Footbal, Square Dancing, and Track and Field. In Track and Field she has
run the 1,500 meters, 800 meters, 400 meters, 200 meters, and the 100 meters
(more than once). The year is only half over, and we wonder what is next in Apple was suprised at the number of modern educational movies shown in each
class.
She is paying special attention to the science movies because they are now
dissecting various small animals. Last week they dissected a worm (yuck),
located 10 hearts, brain, and digestive tract. Next they scheduled to do
frogs. Needless to say, she is not too thrilled with the dissecting stuff.
Apple also attended the John Robert Powers 10-week Commercial Acting course
and has had several auditions, but so far no luck.
